We have built companies from garage to IPO – multiple times.

Aurora Venture Partners managing directors combine decades of experience as entrepreneurs and investors.

Managing Directors

Rather than replicating the standard model of venture capital which spreads the expertise of managing directors over multiple market areas and multiple stages of the enterprise, Aurora Venture Partners has created an integrated team that focuses on a single Digital Media market and early stage enterprise. We believe that our expertise is amplified by focusing it on partnering with the entrepreneur on the key startup phase and partnering with other venture capital organizations in the follow-on growth stages.

We believe that our focus allows us to make faster, better investments, to deliver more value to our entrepreneur partners and to serve as a superior diligence and monitor for our later stage capital partners.

Dr. Robert Arn Managing Director

robert.arn@auroraventurepartners.com

Robert Arn has built multiple companies from startup to liquidity in IPO or aquisition, served as an officer and director of multiple US and Canadian public companies and as an investor and mentor in numerous early stage technology ventures.

Robert has founded and developed companies that have transformed markets in digital media and networks. His first venture Gensat Corp. (acquired by Electrohome/Panasonic) developed and marketed the first consumer digital satellite receiver. His next venture, Cemcorp (acquired by Unisys) developed and marketed the first diskless, plug and play network computers.

He was a founding executive and director of Meridian Technologies Inc. which went public on the Toronto Exchange. He subsequently arranged a management buyout of a Meridian natural language processing subsidiary, ESP Inc., which he transformed into the first developer and marketer of award-winning web editing and web analysis products under the name of InContext Corp. As CEO, he took InContext Corp. public on the Toronto Exchange prior to its subsequent acquisition by Pervasive Software Inc. of Austin TX. (NASDAQ: PVSW). He served as Chief Technology Officer of Pervasive until leaving to found Itiva Digital Media Corp. in 2003, based on the conviction that video entertainment would ultimately move to the internet. Itiva customers and prospects ran the entire gamut of content distributors from the largest telcos such as France Telecom, and digital media distributors such as NBC, CBS, Disney and Turner. He co-founded Aurora Venture Partners in 2009.

Dr. Arn graduated #1 in his class with a B.Sc. from the University of Saskatchewan and was awarded the Rhodes Scholarship to continue his studies at Oxford University, where he graduated with an M.A. degree and the Woodrow Wilson Award. He subsequently completed his Ph.D. degree as a Rockefeller Foundation Scholar at Cambridge University
